Book Discussion with Rebecca Blackwood – A Girl Named Carrie

Wednesday • February 25, 2026
11:00 AM

Belmont Village Senior Living
Town Hall
3535 N. Hall St.
Dallas, TX 75219

Join us for a discussion on Dallas history: the creation of the department store Neiman Marcus! The first Neiman Marcus opened in downtown Dallas in 1907. The book “A Girl Named Carrie” by Jerrie Marcus Smith, Stanley Marcus’ daughter, chronicles the founding and rise of the fabulous store that presented shoppers with ready-to-wear couture. You don’t need to have read the book to attend this vibrant discussion.

Light refreshments will be served.

Facilitator: Rebecca Blackwood
Rebecca is a former 12th grade English teacher. She speaks all over the Dallas metroplex and occasionally out of state. She says, “I feel like I’ve been performing all my life! Between 17-18 years old teenagers to delightful adults, I so enjoy reviewing books and topics, often presenting them in first person.”
